Benefits
The
Formula SAE project facilitates a truly unique educational opportunity in
that it exposes students to the development of a complex machine while
teaching them the skills required to function effectively in an engineering
team.
Apart
from its engineering and design challenges, the Formula SAE car provides the
students with invaluable manufacturing experience.
This
year, approximately thirty senior students have chosen to undertake their
fourth year engineering project on the Formula SAE car.
An
additional fifteen students from earlier years of our engineering program
are also expected to participate in the project to complement their in-class
training on the application of engineering and manufacturing principles.
The
Formula SAE competition is an international competition with extensive
coverage by both media and industry.
The
Carleton Formula SAE car is regularly entered and/or displayed in automotive
and engineering related events, including the Ottawa-Hull International Auto
Show, Motorsport Club of Ottawa races, Autorama and the Ottawa Exhibition.
A
complete list of contributing sponsors will be included with every Team news
release.
The Carleton Formula SAE car is regularly featured in monthly newsletters, various newspapers and television news coverage. (e.g. CHRO T.V., Ottawa Citizen)
After the car has competed, it will be exhibited at various businesses and public areas.
Your
company's support will be showcased to educational institutions, industry
professionals and race fans from across North America and beyond.
All
monetary donations will be acknowledged by a receipt from Carleton
University.
Our
Commitment to Excellence
Our
team members have already donated their own resources and up to three years
of development to this exciting project.
We
have the support of engineering professors as well as practicing engineers
to give us sound advice.
We are competing both to maximize our educational experience, and to build a winning Formula SAE car.
